The gloves are coming off in the 7th District special election. The Matt Van Epps campaign has released a new digital advertisement titled “WINS, exposing Democrat opponent Aftyn Behn’s anti–law enforcement agenda and highlighting the stark contrast between Behn’s reckless behavior and Matt Van Epps’s record of service and leadership. Van Epps is the GOP nominee in the 7th District special election to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Congressman Mark Green.
In the ad, Behn is revealed on a video she taped herself bragging about harassing law enforcement officers, saying:
“This is great… we got our girl squad and we’re bullying ICE vehicles and state
troopers… so this like… this is a win.”
Matt Van Epps says Tennesseans deserve better than a candidate who mocks and targets the men and women who protect our communities.
“When an elected official openly celebrates bullying ICE agents and state troopers, it tells you exactly what their character is and where their priorities lie,” said Van Epps. “While Aftyn Behn focuses on riding around in a clown car fighting police, I’ll be a leader who fights for Tennesseans by lowering the cost of living and keeping our families safe.”
Behn’s recent campaign appearances appear to attempt to moderate her radical Leftist record. But the fact that those in her own party have previously dubbed her the “AOC of Tennessee“ will be hard to overcome, particularly in the conservative district that Trump carried last year by about 20 points.
The 7th Congressional District Special General Election will take place on December 2, Early voting takes place Nov. 12–26.
Matt Van Epps is a combat veteran, West Point graduate, and proven conservative leader. He has served as Tennessee’s Assistant Commissioner of Veterans Services, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, and Commissioner of General Services under Governor Bill Lee.
