College GameDay Returns to Vanderbilt for First Time in More Than a Decade

A special year for Vanderbilt football has just gotten more special as College GameDay comes to campus for the Vandy vs. Missouri game. Both teams are highly ranked, and Vandy comes into the game as a 1.5-point favorite.

The broadcast will air live from Wyatt Lawn Saturday morning, marking the first time the premier college football pregame show has been hosted at Vanderbilt since 2008.  Nashville comedian and Vandy fan Nate Bargatze is the scheduled
guest picker for the show.

The show runs from 8–11 a.m. and will feature College GameDay host Rece Davis, along with analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, and Nick Saban. Reporters Jen Lada and Jess Sims will also be on site, along with college football insider Pete Thamel and betting analyst “Stanford Steve” Coughlin. Kenny Chesney and Dierks Bentley will be performing live before the game.

To help manage crowds, Vanderbilt has announced that it will operate free fan shuttles from 6:30 a.m. to noon. Shuttle pickup and drop-off locations include West Garage, 25th Avenue Garage and Commons Lawn. Once on site, fan zones will be split across Wyatt Lawn, with food and merchandise options available on the west side and a first-come giveaway on the east side. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a free “be-LEA-ve” t-shirt, honoring head coach Clark Lea.

Saturday’s broadcast is expected to draw thousands of students, alumni and college football fans to campus, along with millions of viewers nationwide. The last time GameDay visited Vanderbilt on October 4, 2008, the Commodores defeated Auburn 14–13 to improve to 5–0, generating one of the program’s most memorable weekends in recent history.

In August, Vanderbilt played and won its first varsity volleyball match in 45 years in front of 3,467 fans and an SEC Network audience on a temporary open-air court constructed on the grass expanse of Wyatt Lawn
