Republican congressional candidate Natisha Brooks announced earlier this week that she is suspending her campaign for Tennessee’s Sixth Congressional District and embarking instead on a race for Mayor of Nashville.
On Friday, she announced she is endorsing Van Hilleary for Congress in the 6th District.
Brooks said her decision comes after careful consideration of what is best for the district, the conservative movement, and President Trump’s agenda in Washington.
“I entered this race because I believe our country is worth fighting for, and I remain deeply committed to the conservative principles that inspired my campaign,” Brooks said.
“After much prayer and thoughtful consideration, I have concluded that the best path forward is to unite behind Van Hilleary. He has a proven record of conservative leadership, a lifetime of public service, and the experience to help President Trump deliver on the America First agenda.”
Brooks emphasized that she has personally witnessed Van Hilleary’s unwavering commitment to the Sixth Congressional District, including Davidson County and the people of Nashville through his consistent service and engagement in the community.”Brooks said. “With Nashville being my home, his commitment means a lot to me.”
Hilleary thanked Brooks for her endorsement and praised her campaign.
“Campaigns require tremendous sacrifice from candidates and their families, and I appreciate her willingness to put the future of our district and our country first. I look forward to working together to advance President Trump’s agenda, secure our border, restore fiscal responsibility, strengthen our military, and defend the conservative values Tennesseans hold dear,” Hilleary said.
The endorsement further strengthens Hilleary’s campaign as Republicans across Tennessee continue to unite behind his candidacy.
Early voting begins July 17 and continues through August 1. Republican Primary Election Day is August 6.
