Tennessee State Representative G.A Hardaway Passes Away 

Goffrey A. “G. A.” Hardaway Sr., a dedicated public servant and representative in the Tennessee House of Representatives, passed away on April 24, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, following a brief illness. He was 71 years old. 

Born on June 18, 1954, in Meridian, Mississippi, Hardaway spent most of his life in Memphis, Tennessee. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from DePaul University and later worked as a real estate investor.

Hardaway began his legislative career in 2007, winning a special election to represent House District 92. After redistricting, he served District 93, which encompasses Memphis neighborhoods such as Orange Mound and Binghampton, totaling 19 years in the Tennessee General Assembly. He was known for his unwavering dedication to constituent services and advocacy on local issues.

Before his elected service, Hardaway held various roles in community organizations.  He was a Baptist and a proud father of three children. His family described him as a man who served with honor and distinction. They have requested privacy during this time and will announce funeral services when finalized.

Hardaway is survived by his three children and other family members. He will be remembered for his decades of commitment to the people of Memphis and Shelby County.
