Republican Tres Wittum Apparently Entering 7th District House Race

Perennial Republican candidate Tres Wittum is apparently joining nearly a dozen Republicans, so far, seeking to fill the vacancy in the 7th congressional district. The vacancy arose with the resignation of congressman Mark Green on July 20.

Wittum has posted on his Tres Wittum For Congress facebook page that he is now joining the 7th District special election field. In 2024 unsuccessfully challenged Senator Marsha Blackburn in the Republican primary for the US Senate. In 2022 he ran against then Maury County Mayor Andy Ogles in the Fifth congressional district Republican primary and lost by a huge margin.

On his Facebook page he has posted:

“I’m not a career politician. I’m not backed by the establishment. I’m a regular guy who believes in faith, family, and fiscal sanity—and I’m committed to fighting for those who feel forgotten and left behind.

In 2024, 43,228 Tennesseans stood with me in the TNGOP primary for U.S. Senate—over 10,000 from the Tennessee 7th Congressional District. They believed in a message rooted in integrity, courage, and Tennessee values.

Since then, I’ve heard one thing again and again:

“Don’t quit.”

So, I won’t quit.

The difference in this special election for the TN-07 isn’t about personality or ambition—it’s about consistency. I’ve been standing for the people when no one else would. I’ve been right on the issues when it mattered most. And I’m still here—committed, clear-eyed, and ready to serve.

It’s time to LEAD America with Tennessee values.”

The Republican and Democrat Primary election date is October 7 with the general election date slated for December 2.
