Dolly Parton has canceled her upcoming Las Vegas residency as she continues to deal with ongoing health issues, according to a message shared with fans Monday morning.
In a video posted to social media, Parton said she is responding positively to treatment but needs additional time before returning to live performances. She explained that both her immune and digestive systems have been “out of balance” over the past couple of years, and doctors are working to rebuild her strength.
While encouraged by her progress, Parton noted that some of the medications have left her feeling “swim-headed,” a phrase she said her grandmother used. She apologized to fans who had planned to attend her Las Vegas shows.
“I am truly sorry that I’m going to miss all of you that had tickets to see me in Las Vegas,” Parton said. “You get on to Vegas and have a big time. And hopefully, somewhere down the line, I’ll see you.”
Parton has previously spoken about dealing with kidney stones and other related health challenges in recent years. Despite those issues, she said she remains active with ongoing projects, including recording music, producing videos, and visiting Dollywood.
She also shared updates on future plans, including the opening of a museum and hotel in Nashville later this year, as well as continued work on her Broadway production, Dolly: A True Original Musical, which is expected to debut in New York City later this year or in early winter.
Parton thanked fans for their support, especially following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, on March 3.
“After going through the holidays, our anniversary, and especially the day of his passing, that was very hard for me,” she said. “But I will always love him, and I’ll always miss him.”
She added that the continued encouragement from fans has played an important role in her recovery.
“From the bottom of my heart, I thank you,” Parton said. “You have been a big part of my healing.”
Thank you for standing by me and showing me so much love and support over the past year. I’ve still got some healing to do, but I am on my way! See you soon. 💖 🦋 pic.twitter.com/HXpJqTUJXZ
