Matt Van Epps’ congressional campaign in the special election for the 7th District has wasted no time turning its attention towards the ultraliberal Democrat nominee Aftyn Behn.
Dickson County Democrats dubbed her the “AOC of Tennessee” right after she launched her congressional campaign with a visit to their county. While she is unlikely to bring AOC to Tennessee to campaign by her side in the coming weeks, their policy agendas are virtually identical, including their opposition to enforcing immigration laws and criticism of ICE officials simply doing their jobs.
The Van Epps team has resurrected and distributed a recent video of Behn laughing and bragging as she actively obstructed ICE agents seeking to arrest criminal illegal aliens in Nashville.
“This is my opponent bragging and laughing about her bullying ICE agents and state troopers who were working to protect Tennesseans,” wrote Van Epps on X. “It’s disgusting and disqualifying. I’ll always stand strong for the men and women who put their life on the line to protect us.”
Behn admitted to interfering with and “bullying” law enforcement officials in May, which are criminal acts for which she was not prosecuted.
The general election date is December 2 for the 14 counties that comprise the Seventh Congressional District.
