NASHVILLE, TN – Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.
Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 – 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 – 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 – 2000).
Parton’s inspiring, rags to riches story spanned much wider than the music industry Parton endeavoured and expanded her brand to wine, a theme park. and a luxury hotel.

Long before I moved to Nashville, Dolly was part of my life, of everyone’s life. But being here and seeing her in person several times, I learned that she is one of the few people who deserve all the accolades and more. Besides being one of the best songwriters on the planet, she was a giver. Everything she did benefited others. From her Imagination Station Library to Dollywood and all the other philanthropic endeavors, she was always giving. And the more she gave, the more successful and popular she became. I am so glad that she got her musical created and was able to share with the world how she became our “Dolly.” She got to see it wonderfully performed at Belmont, but unfortunately was not able to see it on Broadway. I know she was a believer and would have us all believe in Jesus as she did. She is the closest thing to being like Him of any human I know. May we all live our lives the way Dolly lived hers- to the fullest and putting others ahead of herself.
