The Stewart Parks campaign has issued a release saying a pre-weekend poll indicated that Parks, a Republican Candidate for Congress in the 7th District Special Election, remains near the top of the pack in the
The crowded race that concludes on Tuesday.
Parks, who has been noted for not previously participating in any negative
campaign advertising, issued the following statement regarding his status in the race:
“Matt Van Epps’ campaign has been calling our supporters over the weekend and telling them that we have suspended our campaign and that I subsequently endorsed Matt Van Epps,” Parks said. “This is more than false – it’s a slanderous lie designed to trick voters into thinking they don’t have any options when they vote on Tuesday.”
The Parks campaign was contacted on Saturday by at least one other Republican campaign reporting that Van Epps-aligned political operatives have been contacting their supporters and saying the same thing.
“If you have to lie to voters to get them to support you, how can we trust anything you say?” Parks continued. “The corrupt liberal swamp wants their guy in D.C., and they’ll do and say absolutely anything to make it happen – the same way they threw me into prison for supporting President Trump. ”
“This is a great illustration of why Tennesseans don’t – and can’t – trust the swamp in
Washington, D.C., Tennesseans deserve the opportunity to vote for the candidate who they most believe in – and not be coerced into thinking that their only choice on Tuesday is voting for the man responsible for Tennessee’s COVID shutdowns and vaccine mandates.”

The Van Epps campaign reached out to the Parks campaign to deny any involvement in the phone calls.
