Wilson County commissioner Diane Weathers has announced she is running for reelection in the May 5th Republican Primary for Wilson County Commission, District 16.
A well-respected member of the County Commission, Weathers,has served in a number of key leadership posts. She is a former member and vice chair of the Finance Committee, currently serves on the Budget Committee, former vice chair and is Chairman of the Public Buildings Committee.
During her tenure on the Commission the County has built four new schools, along with renovations to other schools; built five new fire stations, paved 500 miles of county roads, all while funding other needed projects, including funding teacher, emergency personnel, and county employee raises. “I am committed to being frugal with taxpayer dollars while funding essential services WITHOUT A TAX INCREASE. I am proud of the fact that Wilson County has not had a property tax increase in over ten years.”
Weathers served on the Board of Zoning Appeals, the county Library Board, and currently serves on the Planning Commission and the Land Use Steering Committee.
Weathers is an alumnus of Leadership Wilson, serves on the Wilson County Fair Board and Century Farm committee. She is president of the Mt. Juliet West Wilson County Historical Society, a member of Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce, member and past Regent of the Margaret Gaston Chapter DAR, committee for the Wilson County 225 Celebration 1799-2024, member of the First Families of Tennessee 1796, and her family has been members of Center Chapel Church of Christ for eight generations.
Weathers and her husband Don of forty-four years live on and are the owners of a Certified Tennessee Century Farm established in 1816. They have one son, Darren, wife Allison, and two grandchildren, Aubrey and Owen Weathers. The Wilson County Republican primary is May 5, 2026.
