U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles (TN-5) has once again posted anemic campaign fundraising totals. The funds raised were required to be reported by the Federal Election Commission for the period ending June 30, 2025.
While Ogles’ district is solidly “red”, his consistent failure to raise even minimal amounts of money makes him a tempting target for wealthy and ambitious Republicans within the 5th district, which includes parts of Nashville and its wealthy surrounding suburbs. As one long-term political activist in Tennessee told TriStar Daily: “Andy can only whistle past the graveyard so many times before he will find himself buried.”
Ogles reported raising only $53,187.28 for the period ending June 30. He currently has $59,406.19 cash on hand. He continues to report a $20,000 outstanding loan.
In the past, Ogles has relied upon PACs and outside groups like AFP, the Freedom Caucus, and Club For Growth to provide the essential funding for him to win and keep his seat. However, the Fifth district is one of the wealthiest congressional districts in the country, and a Congressman fortunate enough to represent a district like that should not only be raising huge amounts of money, but also using those funds to support fellow Republicans in districts that are more hotly contested and with a more shallow donor pool.
“That is an absolutely pathetic repor,t and there is no excuse for it,” one significant republican donor noted. “That sound you were hearing is checkbooks closing from donors who are done with him at this poin,t and he will be hard pressed to get them to reopen their wallets.”
