In the Republican race for Tennessee Governor, US Sen. Marsha Blackburn added an endorsement to her list: The Club for Growth.
“Senator Marsha Blackburn is a proven leader who has dedicated her career to public service, fighting every day to protect the individual freedoms and financial well-being of Tennesseans across the state,” Club for Growth PAC President David McIntosh said in a statement announcing the endorsement.
McIntosh noted that “in the U.S. Senate, Blackburn championed tax cuts, eliminated burdensome regulations, and is an outspoken supporter of school freedom.”
Blackburn is facing off against Tennessee Congressman John Rose in the August 2026 Republican primary. The winner of that primary will almost certainly win the general election, as Democrats don’t even have a significant candidate lined up at this point. Current governor Bill Lee is term-limited from seeking another term.
The Club for Growth highlighted the fact that Blackburn, who is a top Senate ally of President Donald Trump, is a seven-time winner of the organization’s Defender of Economic Freedom Award. Rose has also won the Club for Growth annual award, including just last year, and is also doubting his close relationship with President Trump. Trump has not endorsed in the race, but indicated that he will probably be “forced to” at some point.
