Tennessee and Georgia are on a collision course for one of the top early season SEC games that could have SEC Championship and national playoff implications. Before the two meet at Neyland Stadium on Saturday, the Vegas betting odds have been updated following Saturday’s wins by both teams. As of Sunday morning, the Vols are 6.5-point underdogs in the matchup.
This is a one-point change in favor of Tennessee since the odds settled in the offseason. Tennessee is now +190 on the moneyline with Georgia sitting at -235. This is a small change from UT’s +220 and UGA’s -275 in the preseason predictions.
While the Dawgs are favored, 52% of the money on FanDuel has been placed on Tennessee to cover that line. The betters are split exactly in half with 50% picking the Vols and 50% siding with the Bulldogs.
Through two games, Tennessee has covered in both contests. While Georgia has won both of its opening games, the Bulldogs failed to cover their spread in both.
The over/under point total hasn’t changed. It opened up at 50.5 and remains in the same spot. So far, the Vols have scored “over” in both of their games with Syracuse and ETSU, with Georgia going over in one and under in the other.
As far as bigger picture odds, Tennessee sits at +5500 to win the national championship. This is the 17th-best odds in the nation and ninth in the SEC behind Georgia, Texas, LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Auburn and Ole Miss. The odds to win the SEC title are at +2200, the eighth-best in the conference.
It is early in the Heisman Trophy process, but UT QB Joey Aguilar is now at +5000 to win in betting pools. Aguilar’s odds are tied for the 22nd-best odds in the country. A big game and a victory over Georgia would definitely improve his odds.
