The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has received a 2026 Best Place for Working Parents designation in recognition of the family-friendly policies and practices it offers to support employees, particularly working parents.
“We are thrilled to be acknowledged for the commitment to empowering working parents to balance careers and family responsibilities,” said Tarah Keeler, associate vice chancellor of human resources. “As a university that leads, UT takes pride in offering innovative programming, career development, and resources designed to support working parents succeed both professionally and personally.”
UT offers a comprehensive suite of benefits that includes paid parental leave in addition to family and medical leave. Employees have the opportunity to explore flexible work schedules based on departmental and individual needs.
To support work-life balance, UT provides an employee assistance program as well as comprehensive wellness programs focusing on self and family care. The Be Well initiative offers programs that promote personal and community well-being and increase awareness of healthy living.
In 2025, Forbes honored UT as a Dream Employer, one of Tennessee’s Top Employers and a Best Employer for New Graduates. In addition, the Tennessee Department of Veteran Services recognized the university as a Tennessee Veteran Ready Business for the second consecutive year.
