Tim Burchett Still Kickin’ After Suffering Broken Rib From Kick By His Horse

Knoxville Congressman Tim Burchett is recovering after suffering a broken rib from a kick from his horse.

The conservative GOP House Member was injured by his horse on July 27 at his home in Gibbs. While working on his farm over the weekend, Congressman Burchett was accidentally kicked by a horse,” according to a statement from his spokesperson, Will Garrett.

“He suffered a broken rib and bruising but hasn’t missed a beat.” Garrett said he is “keeping on keeping on.”

The 60-year-old Burchett told Fox News correspondent Chad Pergram that a horsefly landed on his horse’s tail, causing it to get spooked. Burchett also said he was told by his doctor that he was lucky he was struck where he was because an inch or two different could’ve been disastrous.

Recovery from a broken rib can take 6-12 weeks and doesn’t require surgery. The injury has not slowed Burchett at all as he made several appearances in Middle Tennessee over the weekend, spoke to a Rotary Club in Campbell County on Tuesday, and has more appearances scheduled in East Tennessee this week. The House is currently in recess for most of August.
