Honky-tonks. Dive bars. Watering holes. Speakeasys. Whatever you want to call them, USA Today has just ranked the top 29 bars in America. And three in Tennessee made the list!
BROTHER WOLF, located in Knoxville’s Old Town “brings Italian aperitivo culture to town with low-proof cocktails, from the Il Professore to the Il Dottore, along with a selection of small plates” says USA Today. They also feature 200+ bottles of wine on the menu. Gold accents and marble tabletops complement the alabaster and exposed brick walls of Brother Wolf, which attaches to the owners’ Italian restaurant, Osteria Stella.
FAT CHARLEY’S SPEAKEASY in the Harbor Town neighborhood in Memphis also made the list. It combines the intimacy of a cozy cigar bar with live musical performances and hearty snacks and gourmet food offerings. Definitely a place to meet and greet a growing number of locals where they claim love luxury, and legacy also come together.
ROBERTS WESTERN WORLD in Nashville represents the honky-tonks on Lower Broad on the list. An icon among icons with several levels of bars featuring live music and plenty of boots, cowboy hats and longnecks. The fried bologna sandwich is a must. With new bars tied to the hottest new country stars springing up down Broadway, Roberts is a throwback to the past with the staying power that lasts.
