The Josie Music Awards, a powerhouse celebration for independent musicians, is often referred to as the “GRAMMYs for the indie scene.” This annual spectacle isn’t just another awards show; it’s the world’s largest gathering honoring the unsung heroes of music, those artists carving their own paths outside the mainstream.

The mission of the Josie Music Awards is to honor, recognize, and reward excellence and outstanding talents, while remaining focused on creativity across the independent music industry.  Every submission is carefully reviewed for consideration by an all-pro panel of judges since 2015. We acknowledge all music genres, and each are celebrated through one winner in each genre in many of the categories.

The ceremony itself is a grand affair, held at the illustrious Grand Ole Opry, where the spirit of independent artistry is celebrated in all its glory. It’s a night that honors the hard work and passion of those who might otherwise remain in the shadows of the mainstream music industry. With every nominee and winner, the Josie Music Awards reaffirm their status as the most coveted and respected honors in the indie music landscape, proving that talent knows no bounds.

Performers at the 2025 Josies included Lorrie Morgan, Carolina Rial, Tyler Dean McDowell, Ashley Jordan, Esther June, Jasmine Cain, Katheryn Shipley, and Shane Thorton.

The Lifetime Career Achievement Award went to Lorrie Morgan, and the Songwriter Legend Award recipient went to Steve Dorff.
