MAYOR FREDDIE ESCAPES HIS OWN NASHVILLE TAX HIKE
While Nashvillians are receiving their new property tax notices in the mail, and suffering sticker shock from the huge increases many are expected to pay thanks to Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s tax increase, the Mayor himself is opening his own notice with a big smile. According to the Phamphleteer, the Mayor will actually pay LESS than he did last year!

“Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s home value increased by just 12 percent compared to the median increase in his district of 40 percent. Countywide, the median increase was 45 percent. O’Connell earns $209,898 as the city’s mayor, making him the 63rd highest-paid Metro employee.”

NASHVILLE 911 DRAWS BIG RATINGS DESPITE EYE-ROLL GENERATING CONTENT
Huge numbers tuned in to see the latest installment in the 911 series, focused on Music City, USA, despite overwrought drama and some seriously goofy content. (Is 911 Disney next?) The premier featured great scenes of Nashville, and a firehouse that would make a Jackson, Wyoming law firm proud. And based upon the series, so far, the whole world will believe that nepotism is the defining hiring practice in Nashville. And yes, EVERYONE has designs to become the “next big thing” in country music.

But numbers don’t lie! Millions tuned in to see the drama unfold, with the best tornado since Dorothy got swept off to Oz! About 12.4 million watched, across all platforms. But will they tune in again, and again?

THE WILLIAMSON COUNTY MAYOR’S RACE JUST GAINED ANOTHER CANDIDATE

Three announced candidates for County Mayor in the wealthiest county in the state have a new entrant joining the field. Restaurateur Andy Marshall of Puckett’s fame (among other great dining options) is joining the race Tuesday morning at, of course, Puckett’s in Franklin. Puckett’s in downtown Nashville welcomed Trump SBA head Kelly Loeffler and the Fox News morning show, including Charlie Hurt, in May. The current field includes County Commissioner Mary Smith, businessman Todd Kaestne,r and former State Rep. Brandon Ogles. The GOP primary is next May.

LIBRARY CONTROVERSY IN SUMNER COUNTY CONTINUES
Fresh from her criticism of the Sumner County library for having books available that contain lgbtq and transgender topics, Riley Gaines Barker was appointed to fill a vacancy on the local library board.
Gaines had pointed out on her social media that: “Tennessee banned tax dollars from funding woke gender ideology, but my own county’s library board is ignoring it. Concerned parents challenged these books (and others) in February, but to no avail. Remove this filth from our libraries!” along with images of books about gender identity.”

Since her appointment, Democrats, and some local Republicans, have been quick to point out that she reportedly doesn’t even have a Sumner County library card. Welcome to “big time” politics Riley. Were betting she gets one this week.

Not to be outdone, Summer County State Rep. Johnny Garrett, who is running for Congress in the 6th district, requested one of the “filth” books from the library so he could do a video condemning “Fred Gets Dressed”, about a young boy wanting to dress like a girl. The librarian from whom he requested the book says the book is not in circulation, is kept behind closed doors, and is only available to an adult who specifically requests to see it. So far, she says, Garrett is the only one who has ever requested it. Nevertheless, we are pretty sure he does have a library card.
