Middle Tennessee Republican Congressman Andy Ogles has sent a letter to the Nobel Commission nominating President Donald J. Trump for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. Ogles’ letter follows Trump’s historic summit last week with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska and Monday’s White House meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, along with several other European Leaders.
Ogles cited President Trump’s record of peace in making his case, including the historic Abraham Accords in the Middle East, peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan, de-escalation with North Korea, and now opening the door to end the war in Ukraine. No other leader has delivered so much for global stability.
“Because of President Trump’s leadership, more people are alive today, and there are fewer wars in the world than before. He is a champion of America First statesmanship, proving that strength and prudence—not globalism—are the keys to lasting U.S. foreign policy,” said Ogles.
“No other world leader can claim to have halted wars and begun resolving centuries-old disputes. As Christ said, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize,” according to Ogles.
Ogles was joined by fellow Republican Congressmen Marlin Stutzman of Indiana and Ralph Norman of South Carolina in making the nomination.
A nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize is only considered valid if submitted by a person who meets certain criteria.
According to the statutes of the Nobel Foundation, a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize is considered valid if it is submitted by a person who falls within certain categories. Members of national assemblies and national governments (cabinet members/ministers) of sovereign states as well as current heads of state are permitted to submit nominations. https://www.nobelprize.org/nomination/peace/
There are 338 candidates nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, of which 244 are individuals and 94 are organisations. This is a significant increase from last year when there were 286 nominees. The highest number of nominees was in 2016, with 376 candidates. The nomination deadline for the Nobel Peace Prize for 2025 was on 31 January. Therefore, the Ogles nomination of Trump won’t be considered until 2026. The names of those nominated are not released for 50 years, so it is possible that Trump was nominated last year by a qualified nominator and could be awarded the Nobel Prize this year. The selection is made in October and announced in December.
