Secretary Kristi Noem announced Monday that Charles Wall has been appointed as the new Deputy Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
According to the announcement, Wall will assume the role immediately. He most recently served as ICE’s Principal Legal Advisor, a position in which he oversaw more than 3,500 attorneys and support staff responsible for representing the Department of Homeland Security in immigration removal proceedings and providing legal guidance to agency leadership.
Wall has worked for ICE since 2012. Before leading the agency’s legal office, he served as Deputy Chief Counsel for ICE’s New Orleans division and as an Assistant Chief Counsel in Louisiana.
Prior to joining ICE, Wall worked at the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office from 2009 to 2012, where he served as a prosecutor and Senior Assistant District Attorney.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of New Orleans and a Juris Doctor from Tulane Law School.
