Poll: Most Voters Oppose Amnesty For Illegal Immigrants

Over the last two months, when President Donald Trump was asked about deporting “all illegals” inside the U.S., he responded by saying he was open to the idea of a “temporary pass” for illegals working in Florida’s agriculture and hospitality industry.

That has opened the door for some republicans and democrats to move forward on talks of a bipartisan approach on a possible form of amnesty.

But a new poll from Tea Party Patriots Action finds most Americans would be opposed to any talks of amnesty for illegals in the U.S.

77% American voters said it would be “neither fair nor right” if the Trump administration or Congress allowed amnesty for illegal immigrants. Thirteen percent supported amnesty, and around 11% said they were undecided.

Among the parties, 86% of Republicans oppose amnesty for illegal aliens. 71% of Democrats were against it, and 71% of “swing voters” said amnesty was wrong.

President Trump’s deportation program remains a source of strong support among voters.

Around 56% support the idea “everyone who has entered the country illegally, regardless of what additional crimes they may or may not have committed while in America and regardless of their employment status, should be deported,”, while 34% of voters opposed it.

On deporting all illegal aliens, whether they have been convicted of crimes or not, 79% of GOP voters said yes, but most Democrats said no, with only 33% saying yes. The poll found 52% of “swing voters supported deporting all illegals.

The poll also asked the question: Should individuals voting show proof of U.S. citizenship and a valid ID? 83% said yes. Among the parties, Republicans (92%), Democrats (73%,) and “swing voters (82%) all agreed

And 79% of voters supported the government requiring ID when it came to voting via mail-in, overseas, or absentee.
