As we move into the final weeks of the regular season for college football the debate over who deserves the Heisman Trophy intensifies, and it will almost certainly go to a quarterback. We will leave that debate to the sports talk tv and radio shows, although I believe both Joey Aguilar and Diego Pavia are not getting nearly enough attention from the national pundits.
But the real debate is who are the best TV or movie QBs of all time!?!? Here is my Top Ten, in no particular order. Who else would YOU put on the list?
Paul “Wrecking” Crewe: Played by Burt Reynolds in The Longest Yard. Sorry Adam Sandler, the original is the best.
Brian Riley: Played by Cris Penn in All the Right Moves.
Shane Falco: Played by Keanu Reeves in The Replacements. Keanu gets TWO slots on the list!
Mox (Jonathan “Mox” Moxon): Played by James Van Der Beek in Varsity Blues. The smartest QB.
Reno Hightower: Played by Kurt Russell in The Best of Times.
Willie Beamen: Played by Jamie Foxx in Any Given Sunday. The Tennessee Titans need Tony D’Amato (Pacino)!
Johnny Walker: Played by Anthony Michael Hall in Johnny Be Good. He would be making bank in the NIL era!
Matt Saracen: Played by Zach Gilford in the Friday Night Lights tv series. How can anybody not pull for Matt?
Johnny Utah: Played by Keanu Reeves in Point Break.
BONUS: Chad Powers: Played by Glen Powell in Chad Powers. Sorry, Eli, Glen is the better Chad.
NON-QB Honorable Mention: Bobby Boucher, Jr.: Played by Adam Sandler in The Waterboy. He menaced opposing quarterbacks with his blitz. That is some good H2O!
