In the wake of the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah, many left-wing commentators spewed their hatred of and blame for Kirk for his own fate.
One of those who joined the chorus of callous remarks was Laura Sosh-Lightsy, who was Middle Tennessee State University’s Associate Dean of Student Care and Conduct. A Facebook account that belonged to the dean made disparaging comments about Kirk soon after his death was confirmed.
Lightsy, the employee in question, allegedly commented that she had “Zero sympathy” for Kirk following his death and that he “spoke his fate into existence.” Late Wednesday night, MTSU President Sidney A. McPhee announced that an employee had been fired following comments they made on social media and condemned the “horrific, tragic murder of Charlie Kirk.”

After the university failed to specify the identity of the fired employee, who was presumably Sosh-Lightsey, the University issued another statement: “The comments by this employee, who worked in a position of trust directly with students, were inconsistent with our values and have undermined the university’s credibility and reputation with our students, faculty, staff and community at large.”
Senator Marsha Blackburn had called for the termination of Sosh-Lightsey earlier in the day.
