Viewers of CNN and MS NOW are being kept in the dark about the illegal immigrant accused of murdering 18-year-old Loyola University Chicago freshman student Sheridan Gorman.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed on that the suspect, Jose Medina-Medina, is “a Venezuelan criminal illegal alien” who was apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol and released into the country under the Biden administration in 2023. Medina-Medina was released again one month later after being arrested for shoplifting.
CNN, MS NOW, and other liberal media have been ignoring the story, according to network transcripts via Grabien Media and their website search results.
Gorman was shot in the back while walking along Chicago’s lakefront with a group of friends, who all attempted to flee after the suspect came towards them with a gun. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sadly, there is a Tennessee connection to the tragedy. Gorman’s sister, Madelon, is a member of the Executive Committee of Vanderbilt College Republicans and a strong conservative voice on the Nashville campus. “Tell your family how much you love them, because you never know when it might be your last chance to do so,” Madelon has pointed out on social media.

National College Republicans President Martin Bertao has weighed in on the tragic passing of Sheridan at the hands of an illegal alien and condemned the Democrats who continue to allow murderous animals to roam our streets and who are being released after serious criminal behavior with no consequences. “The Democratic Party is the party responsible for these murderous animals walking the streets of America,” he noted. “No state is safe because of its agenda. No young American is safe.”

Jose Medina, 25, of Chicago, has been charged with one felony count of first-degree murder, one felony count of attempted first-degree murder, three felony counts of aggravated assault, and one felony count of unlawful possession of a firearm. An attorney representing Gorman’s family said in a statement, in part, “We are gravely disappointed by the policies and failures that allowed this individual to remain in a position to commit this crime… When systems fail — whether through release decisions, lack of coordination, or unwillingness to act — the consequences are not abstract. They are real. And in our case, they are permanent.”
Republicans in Illinois are pointing out that the Laken Riley Act should have kept this alleged murderer, an illegal alien, off the streets had it been enforced.
