The tragedy in Bucksnort continues to produce more bad news for the small community. No survivors were found as of Saturday morning following the explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems (AES), the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) announced after more than 300 searched the site.
Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis confirmed that officials were working on the assumption that all of the people at the site were dead. Davis confirmed that they are working closely with the FBI and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. He also confirmed they have a rapid DNA team on the scene.
“We can assume that they are deceased,” said Davis, when referencing the people inside the building at the time of the explosion.
Davis described it as one of the worst scenes he’s ever seen and explained that officials were investigating the site and still working to recover those who were killed.
“It’s not like working an accident. It’s not like working a tornado. We’re dealing with explosions. And I would say at this time, we’re dealing with remains,” he said, adding that it shifted from a rescue mission to a recovery mission.
The cause and origin of the explosion are still under investigation, with Hickman County Sheriff Jason Kraft and experts at the ATF also involved in the efforts.
