Thousands of fans from around the world flocked to Memphis for the annual Elvis Birthday Proclamation Ceremony, celebrating the legendary singer’s legacy. Attendees enjoyed an unseasonably warm January day with temperatures reaching 60 degrees.

The free event featured a giant birthday cake cutting, where fans joined together in singing “Happy Birthday” to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Notable figures such as Jerry Schilling, a longtime friend of Elvis, and Joel Weinshanker, managing partner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, delivered heartfelt speeches, sharing their memories and insights into Elvis’s enduring impact on music and culture.
This ceremony marks the beginning of the broader Elvis Birthday Celebration, which runs through January 11. Planned festivities include concerts, panel discussions, and new exhibits highlighting Elvis’s breakthrough year in 1956. Acclaimed director Baz Luhrmann’s documentary, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, will debut at Graceland, further cementing Elvis’s place in musical history.
