State Representative Jody Barrett has announced he is running for re-election to represent Tennessee House District 69, pledging to continue protecting conservative values and fighting back against the special interests and political insiders who too often ignore working families. There had been some speculation that Barrett might challenge Republican State Senator Kerry Roberts this August.
“I ran to represent regular people, not Nashville insiders,” Barrett said. “I’m running again because this district deserves a conservative fighter who won’t back down, won’t sell out, and won’t forget who sent him to Nashville.”
Barrett, widely recognized as one of the most conservative legislators in the Tennessee General Assembly, said the choice in 2026 is simple: Tennessee can keep moving forward as a beacon of faith, freedom, and conservative values, or allow insiders and elites to continue weakening what makes the Volunteer State exceptional.
“The elites and insiders want to water down what makes Tennessee special,” Barrett said. “I am proud to be one of the most conservative voices in the Tennessee General Assembly, because it reflects something real: I vote like the people of this district live. I will always stand guard over our values and our way of life.”
Barrett said he is running because the people of rural Tennessee deserve principled, courageous conservative representation.
“Nashville may have forgotten who they work for, but I haven’t,” Barrett continued. “I don’t answer to the lobbyists, the insiders, or the woke mob. I answer to the people: the forgotten men and women who pay the taxes, raise the families, run the businesses, and make Tennessee great.”
Barrett’s campaign will highlight his record of fighting to:
- Defend the Second Amendment
Support law enforcement and crack down on crime
Lower taxes and prices, and stop reckless spending
Protect families from illegal immigrant criminals
Protect children and combat obscenity and exploitation
Protect the unborn and defend the right to life
Stand up to the establishment, even within his own party
