Left-wing Daily Memphian columnist Dan Conaway wrote a column that strongly suggested Memphians should take up arms against President Trump. The column was so volatile that the donor-funded newspaper removed it, leading to cries of censorship. Under pressure from their small readership, the newspaper relented and re-posted liberal Conaway’s screed. They also accepted his resignation when he refused to accept any editorial editing. 

Conway claimed that President Trump has focused his attention on fighting Americans in Memphis. “The commander-in-chief told his generals and admirals that their enemies are Americans, and that their field of battle would be Democratic cities. The great power and might of America’s military would be turned toward its own. Toward here, people. Not here in general terms, here in very specific terms. Memphis is an official battlefield.”

Conway continued his ridiculous, overwrought, factually baseless, and hysterical assault on Trump.

“One man has put 340 million people at risk of losing this democracy. Just as surely as he’s made the Oval Office look like an Uptown whorehouse waiting room, just as surely as he’s made the majority of both houses of Congress look like lackeys waiting to empty the king’s chamber pot, just as surely as he’s turning the Constitution into a Mar-a-Lago doormat, just as surely, he’s coming for us.”

Finally, Conway referenced his father‘s decision to join the military and fight for his country, following the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. Conway claims his father instructed him that he would know when it is “time” to fight. Invoking his wartime imagery, Conway indicated that “now is the time” to go to war against Trump as his father advised, because he is a Memphian and his community is “under siege.”

Violent rhetoric from the Left has already led to at least two assassination attempts on President Trump. ICE facilities are being fired upon, ICE agents and police officers are being assaulted, violently confronted, and threatened with death. Supreme Court Justices, egged on by Democrat officials, have been targeted for assassination. Charlie Kirk was murdered, and many liberals cheered!

How many times must we hear Liberals shouting “fire” in a crowded movie theater before realizing that they are not only shouting the word, but they are actually setting our communities ablaze? President Trump is not sending our law-enforcement officials, National Guard, and immigration officials to wage war on “Americans.” And no reasonable person would believe that.

Trump’s Administration is actually focused on making our cities safer, particularly the “blue” ones that decades of Democrat leadership have rendered virtually uninhabitable. Law enforcement officials are “targeting“ for arrest and prosecution those who are NOT Americans and are here illegally. And those American citizens who are behaving in violent and criminal ways and who have long escaped justice. Far from waging war on Memphis, President Trump seeks to rescue Memphis from those who are destroying it so that the honest, decent, law-abiding Memphians can live, work, and raise their families in a safe, secure and prosperous city. Who, other than the radical Left and partisan Democrats in Memphis, could possibly oppose that?
