Evergreen, Colorado – Another school shooting occurred at Evergreen High School on September 10, 2025, when a 16-year-old male student opened fire with a revolver, injuring two classmates before fatally wounding himself. The incident began around 12:24 p.m., with gunfire reported both inside and outside the school.
In total, two students were injured; one is in critical condition while the other, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, has been released from St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood. There are unconfirmed reports of a fourth student being hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded rapidly, reaching the scene within two minutes after the first 911 call and making contact with the shooter within five minutes. No law enforcement officers discharged their weapons during the incident. More than 100 officers from the Denver metro area, along with personnel from the FBI and ATF, aided in securing the area and investigating the crime scene.
During the incident, approximately 900 students were placed on lockdown, with evacuation plans executed to reunite them with their families at Bergen Meadow Elementary School. Authorities are currently investigating the shooter’s motives and his connections to the victims, examining his home, locker, and vehicle for further information.
This incident marks the 47th school shooting in the U.S. this year, the 23rd on K-12 campuses, and the 13th in Colorado since the Columbine massacre in 1999, which occurred in the same county.
