Gas prices dropped six cents over last week, making Tennessee the ninth cheapest market in the United States, according to AAA – The Auto Club Group.
The average cost of gas in Tennessee fell to $2.44, 15 cents cheaper than last month and 29 cents cheaper than last year. This week, Knoxville and Morristown were among the least expensive metro markets at $2.36 and $2.34, while the most expensive were Nashville ($2.52), Jackson ($2.51), and Memphis ($2.45).
“Right now, Tennesseans are seeing seasonally low gas prices that we would expect this time of year,” said Megan Cooper, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “It’s likely that pricing will remain low in the short term thanks to ample supply and lower demand this time of year.”
Nationally, gas costs an average of $2.80, the lowest since March 2021, AAA said. The lowest prices can be found in Oklahoma, where the average is $2.21.
