Following years of steady enrollment increases, lBelmont University President Greg Jones will continue in his role for ten more years. According to a report in the Nashville Business Journal, Jones was given a contract extension to 2036.
“The board has tremendous confidence in Greg’s leadership and vision for Belmont’s future,” Milton Johnson, Belmont board chairman and former HCA Healthcare CEO, said in the release. “This extension provides Belmont the long-term stability and continuity to achieve our aspirations to reimagine higher education to serve a rapidly evolving world.”
Prior to Jones’ arrival to Belmont in 2021, he led the Duke University School of Divinity. Under his leadership at Belmont, the university’s endowment fund has increased by nearly 260%. Another feat that may be considered more impressive is Belmont’s nine percent increase in student enrollment since 2020, despite a trend of declining enrollment at thousands of colleges across the country. National surveys show undergraduate college enrollment has dropped by approximately 2.4% to
3.1% since 2020.
