Anti-Christian, Anti-Catholic Williamson Scene Takes Graphic Cheap Shot at Gino Bulso

The Williamson Scene, and their sister (or mother?) publication the Nashville Scene, are not satisfied with dispensing their extremist left-wing propaganda in writing alone. This week, they expanded their woke brand of extremism and yellow journalism to a carefully selected photo in order to take an unnecessary and clearly anti-Christian/anti-Catholic visual cheap shot at 7th District Congressional candidate and current  Williamson County State Representative Gino Bulso

Bulso is a devout Catholic. He’s a conservative with a solid track record of fighting on the front lines of the culture and fiscal frontlines in the Tennessee State Legislature. He’s an amazing intellect and a tough successful attorney. He has a son who is a Catholic priest, who is rapidly rising through the hierarchy of the Church. He’s a devoted family man. As a leading conservative voice in the state legislature, Bulso has passed over a dozen laws championing Trump-era priorities such as border enforcement, parental rights, cracking down on illegal immigration and protecting girls’ sports.

In other words, he is everything that the Williamson Scene and their ilk despise.

When school officials at Legacy Middle School in Williamson County allowed a biological male to participate in an all- girls 7th grade sex ed class, over a dozen girls were understandably upset. It wasn’t just upsetting, it was also illegal, thanks in part to legislation that Gino Bulso had passed in the legislature.

Parents of three of the girls decided to sue the school district. Gino agreed to represent them

Last week Williamson Scene published their typically hysterical, hyperbolic leftist perspective about the story, making sure to skew any “facts” to ensure plenty of emotional reaction from their woke readership but with scant intellectual honesty to actually inform them. But since their readership is almost exclusively the viewership of MSNBC, oops, MS NOW, real information is the last thing they seek. Anything that doesn’t feed and fuel their Trump Derangement Syndrome would be seen as a waste of their limited brain cells. These are the same folks driving around alone in their cars still wearing their Covid masks.

The text of the story really doesn’t matter that much since it’s the consistent and expected progressive drivel from the Williamson Scene. And the story is not likely to have any impact on Gino’s prospects in the Republican Primary battle among ten other conservatives vying to outdo each other in declaring their political devotion to President Trump. In fact, the readers of the Williamson Scene are too busy genuflecting to their icons of the Queen of TDS who has enthusiastically  embraced her nickname as Tennessee’s AOC, Aftyn Behn, to pay any attention to the Republican primary, which is almost certain to produce the next representative from the seventh district in Congress.

The real significance of the story is the photograph they chose to use depicting Gino Bulso. Rather than using a photo from his speeches in the legislature or public forums as a congressional candidate, of which they had plenty as  evidenced by the few they placed within the story, they used one from a committee meeting back in February, 2024, during Ash Wednesday, when Bulso was addressing the legislature with a very noticeable ash cross on his forehead.

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, celebrated with fasting and prayer in most Catholic Churches as well as many other Christian denominations. Many Christians attend special Ash Wednesday services at which churchgoers receive ash on their foreheads or the top of their heads, as the wearing of ashes has been a sign of repentance since Biblical  times. The ashes are typically done with the sign of the cross, signifying that the recipient is a follower of Jesus Christ.

Did the Williamson Scene use that particular photo to show his faithful devotion to Christ or with an inside the newsroom chuckle that non-Catholics and Christians would just see a black mark on his forehead? To make Gino the subject of not so subtle mockery over his religion or “dirty” forehead? With the Williamson Scene stoop to a similarly somewhat disrespectful portrayal of someone practicing their Jewish or Muslim faith? Of course not. But holier than thou liberals (small h) are always the masters of Hypocrisy (capital H).
