As the GOP race in the special election for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District heats up, candidates are seeking creative ways to draw attention to their campaigns. State Rep. Jody Barrett is relying upon his long-time friendship with and endorsement from country music star John Rich to give a boost to his race.
Rich issued an invitation on his X, formerly Twitter, site this week asking followers to join him for a livestream discussion on his X channel, Thursday, August 21st at 7PM CST to talk
“With my good friend, @JodyBarrett4TN to about the current pressing issues, and future of District 7.”

Rich said that “making sure the person who fills the seat is the right person is absolutely critical.” He promised to talk with Barrett about the key issues facing our country and how Barrett has voted in Tennessee as a State Representative and will vote in Congress. Rich added that he “might even bring out the guitar and play a little Merle Haggard.”
Viewers will be able to ask questions live during the livestream, Rich pointed out.
The primary election date for the seat vacated by the resignation of Congressman Mark Green is October 7. The General election is December 2.
