University of Tennessee Expands Statewide TV Reach with New Media Partnership

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee Athletics Department is expanding its television footprint across the state through a new partnership with Gray Media, the Vol Network, and several local affiliates.

Under the agreement, WMC in Memphis, WVLT in Knoxville, and WSMV in Nashville have been named the official TV stations for UT Athletics. The collaboration enhances the university’s visibility in Tennessee’s three largest media markets through Gray’s newly launched Tennessee Valley Sports Network (TVSN), which will carry free, over-the-air programming.

TVSN will feature more than seven hours of exclusive weekly content focused on UT Athletics, including a new live pre-game program, Volunteer Gameday, airing two hours before kickoff from either Neyland Stadium or away game locations. The partnership is also expected to expand into Chattanooga and Jackson.

“This partnership strengthens our connection with fans across the state and brings Volunteer sports into more Tennessee homes,” UT officials said in a statement.

The agreement runs through June 2028 and is managed by the Vol Network, part of Learfield, which holds exclusive media rights for Tennessee Athletics and oversees its sponsorships.

The expansion follows a strong 2024 football season for the Vols under head coach Josh Heupel, which included a 10-3 record and the program’s first College Football Playoff appearance. Tennessee fell to Ohio State in the opening round of the CFP.
