President Trump has nominated Penny Schwinn, a former Tennessee commissioner of education, to serve in the number two position at the U.S. Department of Education. She is awaiting Senate confirmation at this point.
Before the Senate acts, conservative Senators should be fully aware of her liberal personal political ideology and what she will bring to bear at the US Department of Education.
It is unfortunate that her liberal background and agenda have escaped scrutiny thus far, including her progression through the Trump administration vetting process. However, the Republican-majority Senate still has time to make the right choice by rejecting her nomination.
A FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request revealed an emailed document that Monica Martinez at the Texas Education (TEA), which is directly affiliated with the radical leftist National Education Association, with its leadership in close cooperation with the Democrat Party, sent listing individuals that she and Penny Schwinn approved to advise the Commissioner of the Texas Education Agency on the Health portion of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Schwinn was working for the Texas Department of Education at the time. That document was wisely shared on social media in Texas and with Texas authorities.

The individuals recommended by Schwinn to assist in developing the healthcare agenda for
Texas schools included radical Sexual Risk Reduction advocates and staunch proponents of abortion on demand.
For example, Debra Hauser is the president of Advocates for Youth, the former Planned Parenthood Center for Population Options, originally working to get School-Based Health Centers in schools. Advocates for Youth was rebranded to be an advocacy group for LGBT+ and sex education.
Schwinn’s recommended appointees also included Melissa Peskin and Susan Tortolero, who wrote It’s Your Game. The best website with information on this program is http://www.sexednurschool.com/
Jeff Temple was also recommended by Schwinn, and he likes to do research on adolescents and sexting. It is shocking that her nomination has proceeded so far along with no real concern over the policies she will bring to the job based upon her track record in Texas, Tennessee, and beyond.
But the real question is, why has the pro-life life community and those determined to protect our children from the sexual perversions of the left been so silent?
