Israeli Guard Ethan Burg Commits to Tennessee

Tennessee Coach Rick Barnes’ international hoops pipeline continues to flow into Knoxville. The newest addition to the basketball Vols  is Israeli guard Ethan Burg. He will be eligible for the 25-26 season.

The 22 year old Burg spent the past two seasons playing professionally in Israel, which will impact the number of years he will be eligible to play at Tennessee. He is expected to have at least two years of eligibility.

Burg shot 43 percent from the field and 33 percent from three-point range in the last two seasons playing professionally in Israel. He averaged 11 points and 2.9 assists per game. The 6-3 point/shooting guard will add experience and depth to what appears to be a great but young front court for Tennessee. Burg joins veterans Ja’Kobi Gillespie and Amaree Abram, Sophomore Bishop Boswell and incoming Freshmen Amari Evans, Clarence Massamba and Troy Henderson.

Recent international players who Barnes has brought to the Tennessee roster include Clarence Massamba and Yves Pons (France), Igor Milicic, Jr. (Croatia), Santiago Vescovi (Uruguay),  Olivier Nkamhoua (Finland), Felix Okpara (Nigeria) among others.

Steve Gill is Publisher of TriStar Daily. He played basketball for Tennessee in the late 70s during the Ernie & Bernie era.
